My therapeutic space is tucked away in a quiet residential area, but comes with a real sense of escapism and relaxation. It might remind you of arriving at a log cabin in the woods: serene, tranquil, and free from interruption. Just a quiet space where you can set aside the busyness of daily life and simply be with your thoughts and feelings.
Because of the way it’s been set up, the environment itself can naturally become part of your therapeutic process, providing a safe container for emotions, reflection, and growth. Hopefully, simply arriving here will allow you to exhale and experience a sense of relief, leaving the outside world at the door.
Most importantly, the stillness of The Cabin invites you to slow down, ground yourself, and focus fully on what matters to you.
About Me
Over the years, I’ve worked in both a low-cost counselling agency and a prestigious residential rehab, giving me the privilege of supporting people from many different walks of life.
What this has shown me is that no two people are the same, so I adjust my approach to fit your individual needs whilst always bringing my authentic self (which includes a sense of humour). What you see is what you get:

- Dedication: You decide when counselling ends. As long as you keep showing up, I will too.
- Collaboration: We work together to find solutions. I can share tools, reflections, or theory, but you remain the expert on your own life.

What to Expect
Contact me directly if you want to arrange a free 20-minute consultation. You’ll be free to ask any questions you might have. If you feel comfortable talking to me, we’ll find a time that suits you to book you in for your first session. Establishing a good relationship with you is my number one priority, because I know from experience that we’ll only talk about the hard stuff when we feel like we can trust the person we’ll be telling it to. My approach is therefore always trauma-informed (meaning I take care not to push you before you’re ready).
Based on your lifestyle and circumstances, we’ll then pick a regular timeslot for us to meet in. Counselling has proven to be most effective when sessions are being held weekly, but you’re of course free to stop whenever you like. No strings attached.
My Approach
Clients sometimes ask what it’s actually like to sit with me. My hope is that you’ll feel the same trust and ease you might with a close friend, but with the professional boundaries that create a safe therapeutic environment. I will always affirm your experience, because how you feel can never be “wrong.” I then offer gentle reflections and connections, weaving together parts of your story so you can see patterns and make sense of them in new ways.
What you need comes first. Some people prefer to simply talk and be heard; others want me to ask questions and keep the conversation flowing; and some value space and silence to process their thoughts. I meet you where you’re at regardless.
And, lastly, I do believe counselling is about more than just solving problems. It’s about creating a real connection where you can feel truly heard and understood. This means that therapy with me isn’t only for when things go wrong, but is also a place for self-development, reflection, and becoming more of who you want to be.
Who I Work Well With
From the experience I’ve had, I’ve noticed I work well with people who fear judgement or worry that their experiences might be dismissed. Many of the people I work with are looking for a therapist who feels down-to-earth and real, rather than clinical. If you want a space where you you feel like you can be fully yourself—and feel affirmed, respected, and empowered—we may be a good fit.
In terms of area, as a counsellor in Dorset, I support clients in Blandford Forum, Poole, Shaftesbury, Dorchester, and Wimborne, but I also offer therapy online (or a hybrid of the two).
Whatever you’re facing, I aim to offer a safe, grounded, and supportive space for you to explore what matters most.
Qualifications
- CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- OU & BACP Level 2 Online Counselling Certificate
- CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism
- BA (Hons) English
I am a registered member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), committed to ethical, professional, and confidential practice. I also have an Enhanced DBS check.
Counselling Theories
I work as a humanistic integrative counsellor, which means I draw from a variety of approaches depending on what will best support you. I’m particularly interested in Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I’ve also trained in:
- Transactional Analysis (TA)
- Gestalt
- Person-centred
This flexibility allows me to adapt therapy to you as an individual, rather than expecting you to fit one rigid model.
